How Do Moving Companies in the USA Work out the Cost of a Move?
Pricing structures differ depending if the move is local, interstate or international. Local moves are dependent on a number of factors, including size of move, equipment accessibility and services requested. Proper equipment sizing, experience of personnel and equipment availability are all taken into account when moving companies work out a price for you. For example if you decide to cut corners and use smaller equipment than required for the job, the end results is multiple trips which increases the overall price. On some big jobs, having a large crew maybe more economical than employing a small crew, which may take double the time to do the same job.
USA Express Moving has a number of different sized trucks depending on the size of the move. While it may be tempting to opt for a cheaper, smaller sized truck in the long run you may pay more for it. Using a smaller truck may involve having to do several trips which will result in higher gas prices. Also, using a smaller vehicle you are more likely to try and squeeze more items into the truck which can cause some products to become damaged. Local moves are normally billed on an hourly rate. The rate is also dependant on the number of movers in the crew and the number of trucks used. There are other additional charges to take into consideration, including packing services and piano moving which are charged additionally. To find our more information check-out USA Express Moving they’re able to give you a free quote online. It’s advised to ring around and get a few quotes from different moving companies before making your final decision and remember to find out what they charge for additional services.

10 Moving Tips You Husbands Should Never Forget
1. Make a List
This much should be obvious. You should always have a list of all of the major items in your household. Try making a list of items for each room in your house or apartment. It will help keep things organized and when something goes missing during the move, you'll know exactly what room it was in and what the item is.
2. Supplies
Even though moving companies say they won't charge you for supplies, they always do. Just in case you don't want to risk it, it's probably easier for you to have packing tape and empty packing boxes to avoid any extra charges. It will save you time too.
3. Wardrobe Boxes
Wardrobe boxes are compact, stackable wardrobe box ideal for shirts, blouses, sport coats and jackets. Directly from closet to box your clothing can stay on hangers.
4. Color Coordinate
When the boxers are all packed away snag a bunch of stickers and tag the boxes according to what room they belong in, or who they belong to. Your wife and/or mother will appreciate you for this.
5. Pack Ahead
Listen to your wife and pack at least a week in advance. Only keep the things to absolutely need out of the box, but still have the boxes ready for them to be put into.
6. Order
This one is simple. Keep everything neat and tidy. Don't just throw things inside of a box. "Place them carefully".
7. Luggage
If you travel a lot you're bound to have luggage cases. Try putting your clothing and other items inside of this instead of wasting money and trees on cardboard boxes.
8. Cleaning
As boxes are being taken away by movers make sure to clean up where they were. This is especially important if you live in an apartment because you're required to return the apartment to its original condition.
9. Protect Valuable Items
If you don't want something stolen or broken: take it with you in your own car. Don't leave movers to move it for you, no matter how good they say they are.
10. Personal Boxes
If you're in a large family, or you have possessive issues, make sure to pack your items away in special boxes so that no one touches your stuff. You don't want to reach into an unlabeled box and grab a handful of tampons do you?

Moving Advice - Moving Large Utilities
So here is a different vane of moving advice for the blog today. I was thinking to myself: "Why aren't there specific moving guides on..well..specific things?" Like moving an HDTV, or A bed, or even major utilities. Well I managed to stumble across this moving guide for transporting a washer and I thought it best to share it with you:
1. Unplug the washing machine from electricity.
2. Disconnect the hoses.
3. Dry the hoses and put them in a plastic bag. Attach the plastic bag onto the washing machine with tape or put it inside the drum after having done step 4.
4. Try to get out the water from the washing machine. There's always some water left in a washing machine. Some washing machines have a plug that you can pull, otherwise you will have to lean the washing machine forward and try to get the water out.
5. Put some old towels in your car so that leaking water won't spoil your car.
6. Put the machine in upright position in your car. If that's not possible, lay it on it's back. But be careful, if there's still water in the machine it might cause a damage to the electrical parts of your washing machine.
7. When setting your machine up in your new home and running it for the first time, don't just leave the house. Be around and have a look every now and then - something could be wrong and your laundry room could get flooded.
The Guide was written by Steven Miller should help anyone who has to get their washer to their new apartment or home; the advice of course applies in theory to moving the dryer. I hope that helps all the future movers out there!

USA Politicians Express Moving Concerns for Wildlife?
I came across this Craigslist advertisement (or plug) in the political discussion section of the forum. The plug was titled:
"Eco-Lovers of the USA Express Moving Concerns for Wildlife"
I'm not much of an environmentalist, and to be honest I didn't even mean to click on the link. I was much more interested in the one above it titled "Aliens Give Barack Obama Foreign Advice" but my finger slipped and I found myself in the midst of a tree-hugging article. Here's a small quip from the post on Craigslist:
"Many thought with the Bush regime coming to an end, he could do no more harm to damage the United States or the world. We thought that with him at the Olympic Games kicking back and taking time off, the people pulling his strings would too. Yet as we all know, nothing ever goes as planned, and with the ever looming demise of the Republican controlled government they seem to have taken to the strategy of doing as much damage as possible in the shortest amount of time. Playground tactics, but most effective. This time it’s not anti-war protesters that are angry; it’s the environmentalists of the USA that have declared Bush’s latest action an outcry. Bush and his administration have decided that they want agencies to make up their minds about wither human expansion such as bridges, tunnels, buildings, and dams have a negative and/or harmful impact on the animal population. But what does this mean and what are the reasons behind this strange necessity to completely change the Endanger Species act which hasn’t seen a single edit since 1986? "
There was a link at the bottom which took me to the RSS feed page of an Author named Fred McCoy. Most of his ramblings spanned from the political to the mundane, but they were always on point and interesting enough that I subscribed to his feed and get updates whenever he posts a new article anywhere.
I digress.
The article explains that tree-huggers of the USA Express Moving worries for wildlife because of our [sarcasm]excellent politicians[/sarcasm]. Honestly, I think that getting rid of the endangered species act, or even modifying it so that businesses and federal agencies have to go through the proper channels such as scientists before starting a project, is a bad idea. It pretty much means that any company, at any time, can destroy any section of land for a new mini-mall owned by a Chinese company. That is definitely not what we need in America right now.

[ An Idiot’s Guide ] – Choosing a Moving Company
It seems to be the normal trend that moving companies are usually more busy at the end of the month, as well as Fridays and weekends. As a result, they may charge extra for these days(Much like hotels down by the beach where you just might be moving to). When you know which company you will be moving with, call and ask them when their less busy days are. The more flexible you are, the less the cost will be.
Also, let the movers know what you are expecting and ask plenty of questions. To help you, here are some thoughts you might want to keep in mind before contacting a moving company in order to get the best and most accurate quotes:
-What are your preferred moving days?
-How far is the move?
-Is it local, long-distance, or international?
-How much assistance will you need with packing?
-Will the moving company be expected to pack everything or will that be left up to you?
-Let the Moving company know if they are moving fragile or valuable items.
-How much stuff does the moving company have to transport?
-How much insurance will be needed?
It’s been found that many citizens of the USA express moving concerns when it’s finally time to leave their homes. Having to choose a moving company only adds to the stress. A good way to find the best moving company is by word-of-mouth and recommendation from others. Also, many reputable companies are available online. All of their information is available on their website. Remember, don't be afraid to ask if you have questions. With this advice, your move should be enjoyable and much less stressful.

Bubble Wrap: Not only Does it Protect Your Stuff. It’s Fun as Hell.
Gas Prices are skyrocketing, and houses being foreclosed left and right, it's a wonder that people find time to have fun. Affordable fun. Many newspapers, blogs, and other reading sources have taken up the topic of writing about things to do with the present day money crunch in America. These activities range from going to parks and riding bikes, to exploring sights within your hometown. Yet, there aren't enough articles on perhaps the cheapest form of entertainment that we have grown up with since childhood. Ladies and Gentlemen, I am talking about bubble wrap.
Now if you grew up in the 80's, back when Pluto was still a planet, you'll understand that I am very far from crazy when I suggest one of the more simple pleasures in life. Popping plastic. air filled bubbles. Back when your mom and dad divorced for the first time and you moved into your new home, you found yourself popping the little bubbles, each satisfying explosion of air bringing you to a new level of happiness despite the sadness around you. Well America is now in luck! Because of the foreclosure crisis many people are being forced to leave their homes in search of more affordable housing. Which means quality, careful, and reliable moving companies are going to see an influx of business, and you the lucky mover will be able to play with bubble wrap once again. Make sure to select and amazing moving company that will wrap all of your products with copious amounts of bubble wrap to avoid damage. Those are the people you want handling your mother's urn.

Moving Company Accident on YouTube
Watch out if your moving company is as unprofessional as this! Two movers are moving a big cable wire using a stair and before you know it, it got rolled over, knocked out the glass door and charged right out of the building. An accident gone horribly wrong!

Relocating with your Pet
Relocating with your pet can be a big hassle since you can’t package your pet like an object (cruel and illegal)! Traveling long distance to your new house can be painstaking if you have a pet so you need to accommodate it. Be sure to bring a cage that has plenty of food and water for the journey. You don’t want your pet to be roaming around the truck when it is moving.
It is best to research a veterinarian near your new neighborhood just in case your pet feels sick from the journey or during the stay at your new home. Be sure to have all the prescription and records on your pet for your new veterinarian.
Remember to have all the accessories necessary to happily accommodate your pet when you relocate. If the pet is too hyper, offer sedatives so the pet can have a nice sleep during the journey to your new destination. Happy Relocating!

How to Pack When Moving
When you need to pack, you need to have the proper tools in order to get the job done. Here are some of the tools that are a necessity in your packing endeavors.
- Sticky notes
- Razor Knife or a Scissor
- A Notepad
- Sharpie Marker
- Cardboxes of all sizes
- Tape
- Bubble Wrap
- iPod
List all the things you packed on a notepad as a reference of where the items are stored. Tape the boxes after it is full to avoid them from spilling out. Use bubble wrap on all your items as a way to protect your precious stuff (wrap them up nicely and have a good amount of bubble wrap in the bottom).
Also when packing to move, pack the things you need first last since you will be able to get them out faster when you move them to your new house. Plan ahead and move on a weekday for convenience!
How to Move Internationally
First of all, you need to find a great mover that has international experience, ideally a country where you are moving into. The moving company of its own country (with international experience) knows the in and out to get your stuff to your new home fast and safe!
Also, all your items and furnitures need to be neatly packaged or risk being damaged during its travel to their new home. It is best to ask the moving company on what and what not to do since they know the regulation and inspection of their home country. Sometimes... it is just easier to just sell it and buy new stuff in your new country!
Find a good moving company in the country you are moving to to make your move internationally easier, faster and less frustrating! Either that or a company that has a lot of international experience who knows the in and out in the country you're in.
How to Move Cross Country
Here's the sizes of moving trucks
cargo van - very small
10' moving trucks- small
16' moving trucks- medium
24' moving trucks- large
When deciding on the proper destination to move, you need to check out the area to understand the neighbors, stores and people you will be encountering on a daily basis when you move in. The day before you move, you should definitely have a little celebration with all your friends and families one last time (like a banquet)! Get a good night sleep for the next day will be a big one (it will be a long travel)! Pack plenty of snacks, food, and drinks during the ride!
